Hold My Guns® is a liberty-based nonprofit organization that connects gun owners with Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs) across the United States to provide voluntary firearms storage during times of crisis or personal need (such as during deployment or a residential move).
Founded by gun owners, Hold My Guns® is a non-legislative solution to help prevent suicide, theft, instances of stolen firearms used in crimes, and negligent shootings. Partnering gun shops make a difference in their communities by utilizing their firearms storage space to help save lives, protect property, and preserve rights.

Gun owners have a variety of personal reasons as to why they would choose to store their firearms outside of their homes. However, not everyone has a friend or family member who can lawfully help with firearms storage. This service is a life-saving option that fills this gap.
Furthermore, HMG sponsors QPR Suicide Prevention Training events within the firearms community so that everyone from gun shop owners, to firearms instructors, to gun range members can learn to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis, learn how to talk to someone who may be in crisis, and point them to appropriate resources.
We also offer resources available for download such as a Personal Safety Plan to empower gun owners to designate their preferred crisis resources and have a plan for lethal means storage before a crisis hits. Having a pre-determined plan fosters personal agency and self-determination - key factors in minimizing the impact of a crisis and reducing the risk of suicide.
We have now grown to six locations, with more in the works. As firearms laws vary from state to state, it is imperative that each state has at least one Hold My Guns® location. Your donation helps to save lives, protect property and preserve rights in all 50 states.
Thank you for your heart for the mission of Hold My Guns®, and for doing your part to make a difference!

REAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE SHARED WHY THEY USED
HMG's FIREARMS STORAGE REFERRAL SERVICE:
A gun owner in the process of selling his home didn't want anyone to have unauthorized access to his firearms during the house showings, nor did he want them in his moving truck or hotel room while he waited for the keys to his new place. He knew that unauthorized access can lead to firearms-related injuries, theft of firearms, and stolen firearms used in crimes. He chose to take personal responsibility for his firearms through voluntary storage.
- A young man whose friend drove him to one of our storage partners to support his making the choice to store his firearm offsite.
- A family who needed storage for a year due to job/housing situation to prevent unauthorized access.
A veteran was being evicted from an apartment and was moving into temporary housing where firearms were not allowed. Firearms were very much a part of his identity as a veteran who fought for freedom. Providing firearms storage was a way to help protect his dignity and mental health in a difficult time.
A veteran experiencing a temporary mental health crisis after losing a job of 20 years, and then being served divorce papers the next day. He knew that it was vital to have distance from lethal means in order to reduce his risk for suicide. I spoke with him and we discussed options. He ultimately decided to voluntarily sell his firearms.
A divorcing couple whose counselors and attorneys all recommended taking a voluntary break from firearms during an emotionally volatile time.
- A man who said, "Knowing this service is available as an option has helped me to get through some rough days. I realized my community caresand that they would support me if I needed to store my firearms."
A gun owner wrote to me, "Due to circumstances, I no longer feel like I can keep my guns in my home. As such, I would be interested in using your services for storing my guns while I sort things out. Would you be willing to send some more information about how to do so?" Of course, I did.
- An unnamed concern when a woman named Autumn called me to say she simply wanted to store her guns. She didn't say why, and that was okay. I know that people have their reasons, and our goal is to provide the option of professional firearms storage to support them. I later found out why. She publicly shared on the "Tradeoffs" podcast that she had been thinking of taking her own life. On the podcast, she shared that when the pandemic hit, she lost her in-home care resources for her children who have autism, and she started to cope with feeling overwhelmed by self-medicating with alcohol. She is still with us thanks to Hold My Guns® and has taken further steps to complete the hard work to go through treatment. She stays in touch!
